The Womanizer: Changing the world of orgasms for women everywhere
December 5, 2022 by Hannah C Sanders

Launched in the U.S. in 2015, The Womanizer has quickly become one of the hottest selling products thanks to its PleasureAir technology. The stimulation occurs through air pressure waves rather than vibrations and helps decrease desensitization. The Womanizer promises an entirely reimagined, intimate experience that helps women transition from zero to over the edge safely and in less than a minute.

The Womanizer by epi24 is the first clitoral stimulator designed to help women achieve sexual pleasure 100% of the time. The Womanizer’s unique PleasureAir technology offers an effortless experience to help women maintain their sexual wellness safely. Created by a German couple, PleasureAir technology produces incredibly fast, often multiple orgasms, by leveraging a suction technique that does not desensitize the clitoris.

Based on a testing group size of 100 women, 50% orgasm in 60 seconds or less; 80% orgasm between 2-3 minutes and 3/4 of the group experienced multiple orgasms. The Womanizer Premium is a luxurious and comfortably designed toy that comes with a lot of bells and whistles. It’s easy to hold and can even be propped up or held between the thighs for hands-free masturbation, which I know personally is a helpful thing especially for women with disabilities or missing limbs that still want to experience the same pleasure as everyone else.

When Michael Lenke set out to address inequality between men and women, he didn’t travel far. He walked down a flight of stairs to his cellar in Bavaria, southern Germany, took an aquarium pump and a plastic hose and got to work (ouch!). The inequality Lenke wanted to fix wasn’t about money or leadership. It was about female orgasm. Many studies show that half of all women very rarely or never even orgasm. When Lenke read the statistic, he was astounded — and vowed to do something about it. Seven years and millions of orgasms later, Lenke’s creation, known as the Womanizer, has become one of the best-selling sex tech devices in the world. The 70-year-old German inventor discovered that the female orgasm isn’t actually that much of a mystery (even though unfortunately for many men today, it still is.) It’s more a question of pressure, suction and blood circulation. Meanwhile, the Womanizer epitomizes how sex tech devices for women have been shifting from X-rated tools to lifestyle products marketed as a means of female empowerment.

Lenke discusses all his invention ideas with Brigitte at the kitchen table, his wonderful partner and the tester of his inventions. She dismissed half of them. But with the Womanizer, Brigitte saw the potential immediately. And according to Lenke, she endured discomfort, pain and outright boredom to help bring the invention to life. The name Womanizer, was even Brigitte’s idea (although to this day it is a bit of a controversial name!) Finally, after two years of trial and error and tests by Brigitte, Lenke had it. Unfortunately the name didn’t resonate with most people, especially women. However, I think the toy has become such a household name for such an amazing product that people are beginning to look past that. Still, Lenke’s touchless focus on the clitoris sets the Womanizer apart from other devices. The key point was to develop something that didn’t vibrate and didn’t need any skin contact. The Womanizer works with air technology that Lenke patented. They were innovators in the market for adult toys

Five years after the launch of the first Womanizer, there are nearly a dozen versions of the product ranging in price from $69 to $299. Womanizer Pro40, which sells for $99 on Amazon, has an overall rating of 4.1 out of 5 stars and 68 percent of buyers give it a 5-star review. On Feb. 26, 2016, amid stiff competition, Womanizer W100, the indirect clitoral stimulator that leverages patented PleasureAir technology, won the desired award ‘Outstanding Product For Women‘ at the 7th annual ‘O Awards’ which was hosted at the AVN Novelty Expo in Las Vegas (Jan. 23). The annual ‘O Awards’ honor outstanding achievement in the pleasure product industry and are presented by AVN Media Network, AVN Novelty Business Magazine and AVN Novelty Expo. According to Wow Tech, the Berlin-based company created from Lenke’s business and another firm in 2018, sales of the Womanizer have topped 3 million, led by shoppers in Europe and the US. The Consumer Technology Association, which hosts CES, awarded sex tech company Lora DiCarlo a coveted Innovation Award in the robotics and drones category at the 2019 show. The CTA revoked the award a month later and then reinstated it after public outcry. This set off a debate about gender bias and whether sexual devices should be considered tech.

There has always seemed to be a sexualization of technology at CES, but until now, women were side actors for the pleasure of the attending dudes. So here they were for the first time with a device that was solely for the pleasure of women, and that in itself is an outstanding accomplishment.
